Our Education Movement

Empowering Our Community

Founded on March 26, 2020, Lynette Stant (Diné) M.Ed., 2020 Arizona Teacher of the Year, Felisia Tagaban (Diné/Filipino/Tlingit), University of Arizona's Native SOAR Graduate Assistant, and Amanda Cheromiah, University of Arizona doctoral student in higher education, created an online space for Indigenous educators and allies to exchange ideas about how to engage Indigenous students and communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In July 2020, Indigenous Educators Unite joined forces with the Arizona Education Foundation to create a larger initiative, “Our World: Educators for Indigenous Students” which empowers and creates community among all educators striving to meet the needs of Indigenous students and inspires Indigenous youth to pursue teaching as a profession.
